Native plants have great value in both cultivated landscapes and rewilding efforts. They support local pollinators and wildlife, they conserve water, often require less care than non-native species, and can help prevent soil erosion and sequester carbon from the atmosphere. However, U.S. horticultural and nursery systems are still building capacity to grow and distribute native plants for specific regions.

For all of these reasons, we are developing a native plant nursery on our property to propagate native species of value in our ecosystem restoration efforts, biodiversity rewilding, and landscaping. We are also using the nursery to propagate and experiment with threatened and endangered species that need and extra helping hand. Ultimately, we plan for our native plant nursery to be a resource to other landowners and land managers across the Northeast.
